11 most reached for products

The ’11 most reached for products’ tag has been going around Youtube, and I get really excited every time one of the beauty gurus I’m subscribed to films a video on this tag.

So here’s mine. Obviously, there are beauty / skincare products that I actually reach for more than the products listed here, but I’ve decided to only feature those which I really enjoy using and would re-purchase. Also, these are not necessarily my very favourite products (although some are); I sometimes hoard my favourite products as I have an irrational fear of them running out. Without further ado, here are my 11 most reached for products!

1. Revlon Colourstay foundation in Sand Beige – this full coverage foundation is great for days when I wake up, look in the mirror and think, ‘Goodness, do I really look like that?’ – which happens most days.

2. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Peach Satin – powder blush generally doesn’t last long on my dry skin, so I often use this mousse blush as a base for my powder blush; I find that my blush lasts much longer this way. It’s also lovely on its own.

3. Benefit Coralista blush – the perfect coral blush, great for imparting a natural flush to the cheeks.

4. L’Oreal Telescopic Clean mascara – lengthening and non-clumpy, everything I could ask for in a mascara. Those who like really thick voluminous lashes might not like this though.

5. MAC Bare Study paint pot – this is one of the products that isn’t really a favourite. I find that Benefit’s RSVP, which is quite similar, applies much more smoothly. However, I only have a tiny pot of RSVP, so I tend to reach more for Bare Study – I often use it on its own, and it’s a pretty shimmery light salmon colour.

6. Benefit Eye Bright – I use this everyday beneath my brows and near the inner corners of my eyes to make myself look like I had more sleep than I did.

7. Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler – Manages to curl my stumpy lashes. ‘Nuff said.

8. Marc Jacob’s Daisy Perfume – A wonderful floral-ly perfume housed in a beautiful bottle. I love this scent even though I don’t usually go for floral scents.

9. Laneige Water Sleeping Pack – Although it’s supposed to be a mask, I use this every night as a night moisturiser – it’s a gel that feels really light on the skin. I have sensitive skin, and when my skin is inflamed, this is the only thing that doesn’t sting (when even water stings). Smells good too.

10. China Glaze Light As Air nail polish – The perfect yam colour. It’s no surprise, considering I love pastel / easter coloured nails.

11. The Body Shop Spiced Vanilla shower gel – The most comforting shower gel EVER. It has a warm spicy-sweet scent, and I get whiffs of cola for some reason. I reach for this when I have a stressful day at work, which is pretty often.

Hello world!

Happy Easter, all!

So it has happened. I have finally decided to jump on the bandwagon and start a beauty blog. To be more accurate, this will be a blog about any happyprettything that happens to catch my fancy, be it beauty / fashion / food / literature / lifestyle related.

I foresee a lot of pictures and comparatively little text. Frivolity will be the key word; this will not be a place to have a discourse on politics or bemoan the state of the world. It will just be me sharing my likes and dislikes (which will hopefully be few) and obsessions. Life can be trying and stressful sometimes, and I think it would be nice just to sit down and blog about silly things that make me happy, like a pink lipstick or a gorgeous leather bag. Call it materialism or hedonism or whatever you want; to me it’s my way of appreciating the little pleasures in life.

Happy reading!
